Myths of Creation

So, where did we come from ?

There are as many theories of creation as there are leaves
on tree. Many have similar themes.

Some systems of belief theorize that a single imnipotent being
or deity created mankind. Western religions tend to believe that God
created man (male), and thereafter created woman (female). Naturally,
man was fashioned in "His" image, suggesting perhaps that God
might appear human in form.

All "Creationist" theories seem to have a common element. Most
tend to refer to "God" or "gods" and "goddesses" from
the "heavens" above. Others believe that these may have
been in fact "ancient astronauts" who came to the Earth
many thousands of years ago, and that mankind itself may
have been something of a grand experiment.

Other religions believe mankind was created by the union of
a god and a human female. Still others believe it may have
been the union of an animal and a human (or apelike) female,
resulting in "humankind" as it exists today.

"Evolution" is the theory that mankind evolved over many
millions of years from lower orders of life. In this scenario
single celled animals formed more complex organisms, changing
and adapting to the environment, branching out into different
forms. Successful forms survived while others died out.

Modern Science tends to favor the theory of Evolution, yet
many people in today's society seem to have developed some
sense of their beginnings that share creationist and
evolutionary elements. Some are content to believe that a
"Creator" began the process of life and evolution took over
to deliver us to today in our current form on Earth.
